SHORT SUMMARY OF THE ISA

• We chose "ROOFS OF THE WORLD" as the topic for our group for the ISA project as we found this topic ,a very contemporary and involving theme for our young students which would be easy to grasp and relate to their daily experiences . Though the topic was selected for Std. II but we planned to involve the whole school . The fact that majority of our students of age 6-15 years were day scholars, they would have the excess to many facets of roofs in India. We designed our activities to connect them to the roofs of the other countries too, to achieve the international flavor for the project. We tried reaching out to schools in other countries through E-mails and personal contacts. We received a satisfactory response from some of them. We selected five countries i.e. Thailand, Japan, U.K, Canada and Nigeria based on their geographical and cultural diversity. We also tried to transform our theme into a multi-disciplinary one by making worksheets and incorporating art, craft English ,Hindi Maths, S.st, Comp, EVS etc subjects in it.

• We designed our varied activities based on craft and drawing, quiz and worksheets, interaction with architects from other countries and India, and field trips. These activities brought in variety in our topic and added to the enthusiasm of our students and teachers. We involved the parents too who also supported us whole heartedly.

• The students learnt a lot about the other countries and also of their own through this topic. The additional learning outcome was the exposure to a collaborative work in a project.
